Studies have been conducted on the technology.
The study results are documented in this site as noted in the topics in this directory.
The study was to show that the technology would assist the student in cross lateral thinking, eliminate brain fog, multiple competing thoughts which in turn would improve focus, attention, productivity and grades.
Who qualifies to attend the classes?
The classes were for students who failed the Tabe Test and the Tova Test.
The Tabe Test is:
The Test for Adult Basic Education (TABE) is a diagnostic test used to determine a person's skill levels and aptitudes.
The TOVA Test is:
The Test Of Variables of Attention (T.O.V.A.) is a neuropsychological assessment that measures a person's attention while screening for attention deficit hyperactivity disorder.
Study One (2002):
U.S. Department of Labor Job Training Center
In the U.S. Department of Labor feasibility study, there were 254 participants aged 14 to 24 although there was one person 42 years of age included into the program at the request of the Job Corps.
These students (called trainees) presented the following challenges: Learning Disorders, Substance Abuse, Depression, Insomnia and Stress Related Illnesses and behavioral issues such as anger, bipolar and ADHD.
All participants were in a lock-down environment although some of the participants had a certain freedom that allowed them to leave the lock-down environment and return at a specified time or date.
All participants were drug tested by an outside agency prior to the program, and at regular intervals as required by the U.S. Department of Labor.
The participants utilized a computer and headphones to access the series of video games and protocols developed by Dr. Maness designed to help relax and improve sleep.
Other programs taught by Dr Maness at Job Corps included how to;
The average person has a 2 degree to 4 degree visual range when reading. Dr. Maness developed the visual expansion software which has helped the students expand their visual range which is helpful to their reading and comprehension.
Dr. Maness' course included teaching them to improve their speed of thought and comprehension.
Speed alone is meaningless, speed of comprehension is valuable in all subjects studied as well as their their job training.
Dr. Maness divided groups into two divisions based on the double-blind methodology to the control or experimental groups.
The experimental group received the complete Behavioral Relationship Entrainment (BRE) while the Control Group received the Behavioral Relationship Entrainment (BRE) without the BRE signals.
The presence or absence of the signals was the Independent Variable.
His double-blind study was for the first 10 hours of the program. Hours 11 through 30 all students utilized the BRE signals.
The time with the students was eventually reduced to 26 hours.
The time investment for each student in the BRE program was 30 hours over three school weeks. The study was the first week (ten hours) in the program.
Following the three weeks in the BRE program, the students were re-assessed by the training center. Students passing the re-assessments were accepted into the training center.
Substance Abuse Students were able to relax, sleep and learn to focus on control of their brain, their body and finding balance. As they experienced times of withdrawal they were able to do their protocols and feel balanced. The protocol would stimulate the frontal lobes while bringing a calm to their nucleus accumbens and limbic system connections. This helped students stay focused on their purpose for being in the program and being successful in the program.
Students found great calm while some reported feelings of weightlessness and others reported they felt as if they were floating. This feeling comes when one has achieved a deeper relaxation state.
Insomnia Students reported the ability to drift to sleep within ten minutes and achieve the deep theta relaxed state. The theta relaxed state is below REM and provides the deeper sleep.
Depressive Students showed little to no emotion, many in this population were cutters.
By relaxing the deep limbic system including the amygdala and increasing frontal lobe dominance, voice inflection, ability to carry conversations coherently increased.
Test scores were up as students displayed more self-esteem and cognitive process improved.
Substance Abuse Students experienced fewer cravings. They were more present and self-esteem was greatly improved.
Stress Students were experiencing fewer symptoms and continued improvement of self-confidence.
Insomnia Students were experiencing greater sleep or a full night sleep and more alert and aware in class.
All but one stopped sleeping in classes during the day.
Test scores improved on the TABE and Tova tests..
Depressive Students were expressing fewer dark thoughts and enjoyed more hours during the day interacting with others. Their test scores continued to improve as they were more present and interactive.
By the end of the third week, most students were excited about their progress.
Student mood, self-esteem and confidence were elevated. Student behavior was of a more balanced focused state, motivated and energized.
Behavioral changes included a more relaxed and open personality, improved facial expressions, improved tone of voice and a less obscene vocabulary.

I promised these students that if they passed my course, I would go to court for them and tell the courts how well they have performed.
I would take the students to court, meet with the Judge or the District Attorney on behalf of the students that achieved. The courts were appreciative and wishing the students well in their future. Some of the cases were dropped after my visit. Others were eased.
I also promised that I would call anyone in the United States telling them of their improvement and how proud I was of them.
On several of those occasions, as soon as I introduced myself, the parents reaction was
I soon realized how important it is for the students who graduate to get in touch with guidance counselors, Boys and Girls Clubs, Scouting and other places who will invest time in them to build their self-esteem and confidence.
